Leading Canyon Creek Women’s Crisis Center Kids’ Group
MY EDGE PROJECT
I co-led and planned activities for the children that attend Canyon Creek Women’s Crisis Center Kids’ Group on Wednesday evenings. These activities, which included crafts, movies, and games, occurred once a week for about two hours. They were usually centered on a moral or value, such as kindness or creative self-expression. I worked with the lead volunteer to plan these activities in advance and implemented them during the meetings. This project also entailed leading the other volunteers to help take care of the children. My goal was to set a good example for the children and improve the community through them.
PLANNING
I planned 20 activities for the children to complete during our two-hour meetings. The plans were recorded and compiled on the blog portion of this site.
IMPLEMENTING ACTIVITIES
With the help of the Kid's Group leader Tina and the other volunteers, I implemented and led these activities.
REFLECTING
After each session, I recorded how the activities went and what it was like to be there along with the activity or lesson plan.
