An awesome activity for all ages: coloring calendars. This is nice because it is flexible. Younger kids can use the calendar template as a blank canvas. Older kids can color in dates and events that they are excited about. All you need is blank calendars and coloring supplies. You can print calendar templates for free online or create your own using excel. One fun addition when working with older children is to bring a list of holidays. In addition to holidays like the Fourth of July, you can tell them about National Siblings Day, Chocolate Chip Day, and more.

For this activity at Kids' Group, with most of them getting out of school soon for the summer, I printed off June, July, and August calendar templates. However, there are always hiccups: only one child showed up this week. She was on the younger end so she colored pictures in each of the boxes. She enjoyed it, despite being heavily outweighed by volunteers, 5 to 1.

If I were to do it again, I would put the holidays on the calendar to begin with to see how that affected the art. I would also prefer to do it with a greater variety of ages and number of children. The more children, the more excitement they have in the art. They talk to each other, help each other, and pawn ideas off each other. All in all, I liked the activity, and the only kid in attendance did.

This week we have no Kids' Group because the Women's Group is cancelled. No mothers, no children. So I'm off until then!
