After two weeks with lots of kids, this week we returned to having just one Kids' Group attendee. This time, it was a girl. Luckily we had a pretty good activity prepared. I planned a sock puppet activity, thinking we would have lots of male and female children in attendance. It worked out just fine with just one girl though.

Another volunteer was gracious enough to bring the socks and some yarn for decorating. The girl loved it! The nice thing about sock puppets is that they are not just a craft. They are also interactive and become a toy once they are finished.

It's sad thinking that I am almost done with Kids' Group. Next semester, due to an intervening class, I won't be able to attend, and consequently, can't plan activities. However, I plan to make a splash before I leave.

In order to become more even on hours and number of planned activities, I will include another activity plan here that won't be implemented. A great activity to do with kids is shirt design. Bring cheap craft shirts from the store and various easy appliques, paints, and markers so they can create their own clothes. Not only does this craft provide fun for the kids, but it allows them to feel a little bit of ownership over what they wear.
